Megan McKensie (Brisbane, Australia)

March 4th - 12th, 2023

Megan is an artist who looks at present civilisation from a post-civilisation perspective and makes from found broken/discarded materials/objects. She imagines a world where a new civilisation has emerged that honours materials and human impact is considered and sustainable. Much of what is known of previous civilisations has been deduced from abundant ‘waste’ materials – material evidence of a people, place, culture and time. Megan makes jewellery because it is inherently emotional, intimate, corporeal, (in)valuable.

Megan was at CasCaDas doing a residency as preparation for another residency in Athens and Lisbon, 2023.
